Rick Rae, Owner
Level 2 NCCP Boxing Trainer
Rick Rae had a rough upbringing but he was a sports fanatic as a kid. He got involved in the North West Eagles Boxing Club in North Vancouver, under the legendary trainer Elio Ius.
Rae trained for 15 years and boxed for nine of those, surrounded by Golden Gloves champions and even a few who made it to the Summer Olympics in Montreal in 1976. As an awestruck 11-year-old he watched Muhammad Ali and George Chuvalo train at the gym before their famous fight.
Rick's worked in construction for the past 29 years and today is a senior superintendent for Knappett Projects Inc., in charge of large projects in their 'leaky condo' division. In all aspects of construction, Rick prefers the leaky condo niche, because he loves to help people. The relief he and his crew provide to so many is the reason he is still in the construction business today.
Rick has spent the last 5 years studying the training procedures of professional trainer Freddy Roach, and is certified as a level 2 NCCP boxing trainer and referee himself. Rick also recently renewed his level 3 first aid to ensure the the safety of his clientelle.
Anyone who knows Rick will tell you that he lives to motivate. In his mind, if you're not getting better every day, he's not doing his job. This passion for inspiration, combined with his long time love of boxing, led Rick to open Genesis Boxing & Fitness.
His mission is to change lives for the better, from troubled kids to out of shape adults.
